Choosing A Camera Lens. Canon Digital Camera Cable. Choosing A Camera Lens
Choosing and Using a Refracting Telescope (Patrick Moore's Practical Astronomy Series) Choosing and Using a Refracting Telescope has been written for the many amateur astronomers who already own, or are intending to purchase, a refracting telescope – perhaps to complement their existing arsenal of larger reflecting telescopes – or for the specialist who requires a particular refractor for serious astronomical applications or nature studies. Four hundred year ago, during the winter of 1609, a relatively unknown Italian scientist, Galileo Galilei designed a spyglass with two crude lenses and turned it skyward. Since then, refractors have retained their dominance over all types of reflector in studies of the Moon, planets and double stars because of the precision of their optics and lack of a central obstruction in the optical path, which causes diffraction effects in all commercially-made reflectors. Most mature amateur astronomers got started with a 60mm refractor, or something similar. Thirty years ago, there was little choice available to the hobbyist, but in the last decade long focus crown-flint achromats have moved aside for some exquisitely crafted apochromatic designs offered by leading commercial manufacturers. There has been a huge increase in the popularity of these telescopes in the last few years, led by a significant increase in the number of companies (particularly, William Optics, Orion USA, StellarVue, SkyWatcher and AstroTech) who are now heavily marketing refractors in the amateur astronomical magazines. In Choosing and Using a Refracting Telescope, well-known observer and astronomy writer Neil English celebrates the remarkable history and evolution of the refracting telescope and looks in detail at the instruments, their development and their use. A major feature of this book is the way it compares not only different classes of refractor, but also telescopes of each class that are sold by various commercial manufacturers. The author is perhaps uniquely placed to do this, having used and tested literally hundreds of different refracting telescopes over three decades. Because it includes many diverse subjects such as imaging with consumer-level digital cameras, imaging with webcams, and imaging with astronomical CCD cameras – that are not covered together in equal depth in any other single volume – Choosing and Using a Refracting Telescope could become the ‘refractor bible’ for amateur astronomers at all levels, especially those who are interested in imaging astronomical objects of every class. 78% (17) snowbie is not as excited about camera gear as i am home sorry i've been out of commission. just went to the doctor's today and found i have some walking pneumonia + bronchitis combo. no wonder i've been feeling so ill lately and haven't had any energy or desire to do anything but rest. i must have caught it when i was in asia and it's....kicking my ass. anyway, just wanted to let you all know i'm alive and wanted to share my new little friend that i got during my trip! :) i've been so sick that i haven't even had time to share her w/ you all. i of course still love my rebel xt - it's been a really great camera and will still continue to use her daily. i got my new camera a day before i left for osaka/kyoto so all my japan photos are taken with the 40D while all my hong kong photos are with my rebel xt. will post my travel pics when i have more energy. uncle three took me to his fave + most trusted camera shop and i was really really lucky to pick up this camera in addition to a L-lens as well. both were second hand items but in AMAZING condition! and the prices were unbeatable. uncle three helped me choose and inspected everything for me in addition to bargaining too. (^_^)/ anyway, just checking in and wanted to say hello. i'm doing better but will need a few more weeks to get over this thing but today was the first day i even touched my cameras since i got home and....that's a good sign i think. :) eBay Canon 50mm 1.8 Lens Hood Choices: To save money with an eBay lens hood or go for elite status for the real deal lens hood from Canon. As you can tell, I chose the former. Hey, it was only $5 so I thought it was worth a gamble. Buying and receiving this item from eBay was the usual no drama affair. Click on the ‘buy it now’ button, pay for your goods and just wait around your mailbox for about a week. From what I’ve seen and read, the Canon lens hood is a two piece design. I’m not too sure what the adapter is made out of but the hood itself is metal. As for this $5 eBay lens hood, it is a one piece plastic construction. If you’re prone to swinging around your camera and accidentally banging your lens on hard objects, I’m pretty sure this hood will break as it is just strong enough to hold a form. Other than the fact my lens cap does not an entirely tight grip on the hood, it serves it purpose quite well which is to block stray sunlight from washing out your pics and occasionally keeps stray objects away from touching the precious glass. So for $5, I got my money’s worth already. If this hood does eventually breaks into pieces, I honestly would probably stretch an extra Jackson for the real deal. choosing a camera lens David Busch??s Canon EOS Rebel XS/1000D Guide to Digital SLR Photography will show you how to make the most of your camera??s robust feature set, including 10 megapixel resolution, blazing fast automatic focus, and the real-time preview system Live View, to take outstanding photos.
